Free and welcome to all, the 15th annual SoMardi Gras Parade will roll down South Main in Little Rock at noon on Saturday, March 1. Get ready for a day of funky vibes and New Orleans-themed grooves because this year’s theme is disco!

But first, let’s talk about the VIP pre-party happening the day before. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, Rock Town Distillery will have drinks, a Cajun buffet, Arkansas Circus Arts and live music by Butterfly from New Orleans. All proceeds from the event (your $50 ticket and any extra donations) will go toward the SoMa Postcard Mural campaign. The mural will be installed the next day during the parade and street festival.

With the parade kicking off at noon on Saturday, the street festival will begin about one hour earlier and last until 5 p.m. Attendees can expect dozens of small businesses, vendors, restaurants, food trucks and a kid zone.

After the parade, the party will continue at Bernice Garden, where there will be a beard and mustache contest! There will be seven categories that contestants could possibly win: Best Natural Beard Under 6”, Best Natural Beard Over 6”, Best Groomed Beard, Best Mustache, Most Original Beard, Best Partial Beard and Best DIY Crafted Beard (women and kids).
