Arkansas-based country band Sofie and the New Relics will open for Sawyer Brown at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Saturday, Feb. 15. The concert commemorates Sawyer Brown’s 6,000th show.
Sofie and the New Relics posted a video to Facebook of Sawyer Brown’s Mark Miller asking Sofie Smithson, frontman for Sofie and the New Relics, to open the show.
Sawyer Brown marked its 40th anniversary last year and was featured in the 2024 documentary “Get Me to the Stage on Time.” Notable songs include “Step That Step,” “Some Girls Do” and “Thank God for You.”
Smithson began playing guitar at age 13 and joined Jettway Performance in 2022. She was named Female Vocalist of the Year by the organization a year later. The up-and-coming artist told AY About You in 2023 that she was first inspired to pursue country music after hearing Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” at a wax museum in Nashville at age 12.
