One of Conway’s most requested festival experiences is making a comeback with a new name and new partners during Toad Suck Daze this year.

First Community Bank and Chris Crain Hyundai, alongside the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, have announced the debut of Hands on a Hyundai, an endurance-style contest inspired by a longtime fan-favorite competition that festivalgoers have asked to see return for years. The event marks the first time First Community Bank has partnered on this type of community competition in Conway.

Hands on a Hyundai challenges contestants to keep one hand on a vehicle at all times, with the last remaining participant winning the car. The contest will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at the corner of Oak and Parkway in downtown Conway, and will continue until a winner is determined. The event takes place during Toad Suck Daze, May 1–3.

“Hands on a Hyundai reflects what happens when community partners come together around something people genuinely care about,” said Grant Gordy, community president for First Community Bank in Conway. “This is about honoring the excitement and tradition people remember while creating something new that reflects our commitment to Conway.”

Chris Crain Hyundai General Manager Brett Berry said the contest blends nostalgia with a fresh approach.

“This is a fresh event with deep community roots,” Berry said. “We’re excited to introduce Hands on a Hyundai as part of Toad Suck Daze and give people the opportunity to be part of an experience they’ll be talking about for years.”

The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce also emphasized the importance of collaboration and tradition.

Brad Lacy, president and CEO of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “Our organization is proud to support an event that brings the community together and celebrates one of Conway’s most cherished traditions. The collaboration reflects the spirit of the festival itself.”

Registration opens Monday, March 23, with entry available at participating First Community Bank and Chris Crain locations. No purchase is required to enter or win. Contestants will be selected through daily drawings announced on Facebook Live, followed by a mandatory meeting on Friday, April 23.

Prizes include a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz for first place, along with cash prizes for second through fourth place. Toad Suck Daze, founded in 1982, remains Conway’s signature spring festival and is presented by Baptist Health Conway.
