Maggie Rose, a Nashville, Tenn.-based singer and songwriter has made stops to perform in Arkansas many times. Whether you caught her one of the many times she toured in Little Rock years ago or saw her perform live at Fayetteville’s iconic George’s Majestic Lounge, Rose has grown with her music over the years. Most recently, Rose performed at Stickyz Rock ‘N’ Roll Chicken Shack on Thursday, Nov. 17.
While she isn’t from Arkansas, many Arkansans have seen her music evolve over the course of her career. And with that history, Rose let us in on who she is, what path her music is on and what fans can expect in the future.
Q: Where in Arkansas have you played before?
A: At George’s Majestic Lounge and several places in Little Rock back in the day. It’s been far too long since I’ve played in Little Rock, and I’m glad I got to make up for lost time.
Q: What artists do you draw inspiration from?
A: It’s hard to pick one, but I would say Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. I’m really inspired by musicians that do what they love.
Q: How would you describe your sound?
A: Soulful, Americana, all blended into American Rock & Soul. I’m really in a sweet spot where all of the sounds I love come together.
Q: How did you get your start?
A: I grew up in Maryland and moved to Nashville almost 15 years ago. I started off making traditional country music and then I became fully independent about seven years ago.
Q: What’s one thing you wish more people knew about you?
A: As a musician, I really wish more people were aware of how dynamic we’ve been able to make the live shows. There are elements that will make you want to dance and elements that are more thought-provoking.
Q: What can fans expect in the coming months?
A: I’m currently touring, so I would love for any fans to get the chance to attend a live show. There’s also new music coming out soon and my podcast, “Salute the Songbird,” has several different artists featured as guest hosts. “Salute the Songbird” is available on all listening platforms.
