Thursday, Jan. 10

What: Learn the Constellations with the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society

When: 6-7:30 p.m.

Where: Darragh Center

Have you ever looked up into the night sky and wondered what’s out there? This Thursday, learn a little bit about our great universe with the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society. Head to the Central Arkansas Library System Main Library’s Darragh Center to learn how to identify star patterns. This will be a popular event, and there will be more programs every Thursday night in January. You can impress your friends with your new knowledge later! FREE

 

What: UA Little Rock Men’s Basketball Game

When: 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Where: Jack Stephens Center

Get ready for the clash of the Trojans! Support the Men’s Basketball Team at UA Little Rock tonight as they take on the Troy Trojans. This is the 22ndmatchup between the two teams, and it should be a fantastic game. Last time, Troy won, but Little Rock’s team is looking for a win. Make some   Ticket prices range from $8 to $115.

 

Friday, Jan. 11

What: Cinderella at Whole Foods

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Whole Foods (501 Bowman Road

This Friday, a princess is coming to Little Rock. Bring your own little princess to Whole Foods to hear Cinderella’s story time. All of the princesses will sing and dance along as Cinderella leads them through “The Princess Dance.” It will be a magical time for all! Snacks and a fun craft event will be provided by Whole Foods, and your princess can get a picture with Cinderella. FREE. The event is hosted by Fancyful Fairytale Parties

 

Friday, Jan. 11-Sunday, Jan. 13

What: 37thArkansas Marine Expo

When: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. (Fri. & Sat.) and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (Sun.)

Where: Statehouse Convention Center

It might be winter, but never too early to get ready for the warm weather months. This weekend, head to the Statehouse Convention Center for the 37thannual Arkansas Marine Expo! Over three days, shop for fishing boats, ski boats, party barges and more. It’s a great opportunity to land serious savings on a boat. Of course, every boat needs accessories, and there will be experts on hand to guide you to the right equipment. Adult tickets are $6, and kids under 12 get in for free.

 

Saturday, Jan. 12

What: Block, Beer & Bourbon

When: 7-9:30 p.m.

Where: Albert Pike Masonic Center

Life is just better with a glass of bourbon. It just is. This Saturday, enjoy great bourbon and beer while supporting a great cause. KLRE and KUAR are hosting this fundraiser to support their continued operations. Not only will you have carefully selected adult beverages, but you will listen to the musical stylings of the Rodney Block Collective. Support public radio in Little Rock and have a good time while you’re at it! General admission tickets are $75, and VIP tickets are $150.

 

What: 2019 Small Works on Paper Opening Reception

When: 1-3 p.m.

Where: Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (Pine Bluff)

This weekend, witness the extraordinary work that artists are producing right here in Arkansas. The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas is hosting an exhibition of the annual Small Works on Paper, an annual juried exhibition in Arkansas, and you can get a sneak preview. The ASC is holding a free opening reception for the exhibit, and it is sure to be a cultural event.

 

What: 33rdAnnual Men’s Club Shrimp & Oyster Dinner and After Party

When: 5-9 p.m.

Where: Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church

Eat your fill of shrimp and oysters this weekend during a family-style dinner to benefit Holy Souls School. After this great meal, prepared by the Men’s Club chefs, have a ball at the Evening at Monaco After Party! Pretend you’re a high-roller and rack up chips playing roulette, craps, black jack and more. Cash the chips to use in the raffle. You could win a flat screen TV, cash prizes or more! Tickets are $30, but make sure to hurry! There are only 800 seats available.

 

Sunday, Jan. 13

What: Lend Me a Tenor

When: 2:30 p.m.

Where: The Studio Theatre

Get ready for a wild night at the opera! The Studio Theatre is producing Lend Me a Tenor, the story of a young assistant who is tasked with finding a last-minute replacement for a world-famous opera singer. Antics ensue when he tries to find a suitable tenor for the job! General admission tickets are $18, and tickets for seniors, military and students are $15. And don’t worry if you miss this performance! There are also shows on Jan. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 and 20.
