Ballet Arkansas in collaboration with North Little Rock Tourism will be bringing “Live at The Plaza: Culture in Community” to the Argenta Plaza this weekend. This popular series uses freemixed repertory performances in making use of the plaza’s architectural features with classical excerpts included. What: Portrait of a Woman Exhibit Closing Day 

Where: William F. Laman Library (Argenta/North Little Rock)

This is the last day that the “Portrait of a Woman” exhibit will be on display at the William F. Laman Library’s Argenta branch. This exhibit is free to the public and shows a collection of portraits of women that have made an impact on artist Cary Smith throughout all of her journeys in life . A portion of all sales from this collection will be donated to Our House shelter, which helps women and children experiencing homelessness. 


Friday, Sept. 8 

What: Swing Fore Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement of Arkansas will be hosting Swing Fore this Friday at Topgolf in Rogers. The event is still open for auction items to be donated, and each auction item purchased will go toward supporting financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship youth education in Northwest Arkansas. The mission of this week is to bring together NWA Leadership Pledge supporters, along with the broader community in order to create welcoming and inclusive spaces within the community. This week will begin with Welcome Fayetteville on Friday, from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Arvest Plaza, Saturday will include a Bentonville Film Festival 2023 Encore virtually, an Operation Reboot Drive at the Rogers Public Library, a Canopy Welcome Kit Drive across several locations in Bentonville and much more. What: Rock, Paper, Run 5K and Cool Down Party 

Where: Registration/starting line: William F. Laman Library (North Little Rock), Cool Down: Library Square (Little Rock) 

When: Race begins at 9:15 a.m., Cool Down Party starts at 10 a.m. 

Meet CALS and North Little Rock Public Library System at the starting line at William F. Laman Library to join the Rock, Paper, Run 5K, or to simply support the runners in this summer’s-end race. After the 5K concludes, guests are invited to visit library square for a fun, and free, cool down party. Guests are invited to duress as their favorite literary character and enjoy free activities including face painting and live music. 


Saturday, Sept. 9 

What: “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged” 

Where: UAPTC-CHARTS (North Little Rock) 

When: 7:30 p.m. 

“The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged” will be playing for one night only at UAPTC-CHARTS and will include snippets from “Romeo and Juliet,” “Othello, “The Comedy of Tow Well-Measured Gentlemen Lost in the Merry Wives of Venice on a Midsummer’s Twelfth Night in Winter.” The show will include a comedically abbreviated take on all 37 of The Bard’s works in a single performance. Tickets are available for purchase online. 


Saturday, Sept. 9 

What: Dinner Detective Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Show 

Where: Holiday Inn Presidential (Little Rock)

When: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. 

You don’t have to be great at solving puzzles to have a great time at a Dinner Detective Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Show. This Saturday, guests to this fun dinner party will be tackling a hilarious, yet challenging, crime as they eat a great dinner. This is a dinner theater performance like no other. Tickets to this event are priced at $59.99 and can be purchased online. 


Saturday, Sept. 9 

What: 24th Annual Big Car & Truck Show

Where: 401 Municipal Dr. (Jacksonville) 

When: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 

The 24th Annual Big Car & Truck Show will take place this Saturday at Goodsell Truck Accessories in Jacksonville. This year’s events will focus on the year classes starting from pre-1940 to present day and there will be several best of awards handed out throughout the day. Registration is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and will cost $25 to be judged and $10 to be displayed-only. This year’s fundraiser will go toward benefitting Jacksonville Friends of the Animals. If there is inclement weather, this event will take place on Sept. 16. 


Sunday, Sept. 10 

What: 7th Annual International Festival 

Where: Botanical Garden of the Ozarks 

When: 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. 

The 7th Annual International Festival will take place this weekend, as Welcoming Week NWA begins. As a celebration of all the cultures that make up Northwest Arkansas, guests can enjoy cultural and traditional dance as well as musical performances on the Great Lawn. Various food trucks, vendors, booths, art, crafts, resources and more will be available at this year’s event. 




** Save The Date: The Grid Iron Challenge will be returning to Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort starting Monday, Sept. 11, and will continue every Monday during the pro-football season.
