What: Alfredo Jaar: It Is Difficult Keynote Performative Lecture  

Where: Great Hall, Crystal Bridges (Bentonville)

When: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. 

Kicking off the Association of the Historians of American Art Symposium, Alfredo Jaar will be leading a keynote performative lecture open to the public. Jaar is an artist, architect and filmmaker and will be performing from his experiences as a presentation of information and insight. The event is free but reservations are required. Thursday, October 6 

What: Denim & Diamonds Dinner

Where: Hill Barn Event Center (Bryant)

When: 6:30 p.m.

Civitan Services, a nonprofit organization that serves people with developmental disabilities of all ages, is hosting its annual Denim & Diamond Dinner in Bryant this Thursday night. What: Hillcrest’s First Thursday 

Where:  Hillcrest Historic District  (Little Rock)

Bikes, Blues & BBQ is the world’s largest charity motorcycle rally, and its happening this weekend, with this year being its very first in a new location. What: Conway Art Walk 

Where: Downtown Conway

The theme for this month’s art walk is Life on Earth. Join community members and artists for the Electric Alley Arts Experience featuring Robert Haygood, an abstract artist using natural elements and experience art from Sheila Parsons, Hannah Hollingsworth and Pam Sims in the studio downtown. It’s officially time for this month’s SoMa After Dark, and people of all ages can enjoy a variety of activities in the arts neighborhood of downtown Little Rock. It’s well into the spooky season, and this Friday night CALS Ron Robinson Theater is celebrating with a screening of Beetlejuice. Billy D. Washington will be performing live at Little Rock’s The Loony Bin this weekend. Washington formerly worked as a Houston Police Officer before leaving to pursue his passion of making people laugh out loud. Featured at several festivals, Washington is known for his style of joke-telling. This event is only open to those over 18-years-old. Tickets can be bought online.

What: Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival

This Friday, the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival will kickoff at the Arlington Hotel. This event will run through Oct. 15 and will feature several talented Arkansas-based filmmakers as well as films that feature Arkansas life and history. What: Witch Paddle on the Little Maumelle River

Where: Little Maumelle River Boat Launch (Little Rock)

When: 11 a.m.

Witches, warlocks and really anyone else in Little Rock are encouraged to trade in their broomsticks for paddles and join this fun costume event. Participants can bring their own stand up paddle board, kayak or canoe. A limited number are available to rent with advanced notice. Online registration is $10 and proceeds will go to support mental health resources at GAIN, Inc., a Little Rock mental health treatment and outpatient services organization. DreadRock: International Horror Film Festival will take place this Saturday at The Studio Theatre. The Little Rock Touchdown Club’s annual guest speaker series, presented by Simmons Bank, takes place every week, and this Monday, Robbie Bosco, former BYU and Green Bay Packer Quarterback, will be speaking.
