The Museum of Discovery will bring back its annual Tinkerfest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, for a day of creativity, innovation and hands-on discovery.

The one-day event will bring together makers, artists, engineers, crafters and community partners for activities designed to get guests of all ages building, creating and experimenting.

This year’s activities include bubble art and giant bubble play, robotics with Harding Academy and the University of Central Arkansas, printmaking, fabric weaving, giant Lincoln Logs, Ballapalooza, Car Take-Apart and Pinewood Derby.

For the first time, Tinkerfest will also feature local artists and makers, giving guests an opportunity to explore and purchase unique work from members of Little Rock’s creative community.

“Tinkerfest is all about giving people the freedom to explore, experiment and discover what they can create,” says Steven Schnell, executive director of the Museum of Discovery. “It is encouraging to witness people of all ages coming together to try something new, have fun, and make memories.”

Tinkerfest activities are included with regular museum admission. Admission is $15 for adults and $13 for children ages 1-12. Infants younger than 1 are admitted free. Seniors, teachers, Little Rock city employees and active and retired military receive admission for $13.

SNAP recipients and up to five additional members of their party can receive admission for $2 each.
