Southern Food & Wine Festival Returns this Weekend

The fourth Southern Food & Wine Festival will be held this weekend at El Dorado’s Murphy Arts District.

The festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, and will coincide with a concert by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jason Isbell. Isbell’s performance will be Saturday, May 5, at the Griffin Music Hall.

On Friday, a five-course meal will be served in the musical hall. The meal was planned and prepared for by four award-winning chefs and sommeliers. The night will conclude with a performance by the Tepusquet Tornados, a California-based musical group made up of wine industry professionals.

The second day of the festival will include a multi-winery grand tasting at the Murphy Art District Amphitheater, and will coincide with El Dorado’s annual Mayhaw Festival on Saturday morning. Tickets to the Friday Wine Dinner will include a ticket to the Saturday Grand Tasting.

The day of events on Saturday will include multiple wine workshops and a schedule of live performances that include Emily & Matt, Trey Johnson and Maggie Koerner. The schedule of events can be found here, and tickets can be purchased here.

The grand tasting will feature renowned wines from around the world, and will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Chefs appearing are Chris D’Andrea, former sous chef at three-Michelin-star recipient Saison in San Francisco; John Peters III, executive chef of El Dorado’s Griffin Restaurant; and Austin Johnson, chef de cuisine at Frenchie Restaurant in Paris, France.

El Dorado’s Murphy Arts District opened in October 2017 and has since played host to a number of performances by some of the country’s top musicians and entertainers.
