Wellness Wednesday: Signs That Someone is Good for Your Mental Health

 

Have you ever been around someone and thought that they were medicine to your soul? We all have someone in our life that makes us feel better after we’ve been with them.

 

For this week’s Wellness Wednesday, Lauren English, a licensed professional counselor and business development representative with Pinnacle Pointe Hospital, identifies some of the signs of positive people and relationships in our lives.

 

No Competition

A positive influence won’t make you feel as though you’re competing with them. Often, we feel on guard or defensive or competitive, but with these positive individuals, we are able to be ourselves.

 

Free From Judgment

When you’re around people who are a positive influence, you will feel like the best version of yourself. This person makes it easy to relax, to share the good and the bad, and as though you aren’t being judged. You don’t feel like you have to be perfect around them, because this person accepts you as you are.

 

Empathetic

This person is open and honest with you and they don’t judge you. They want to know more about you and listen to you with empathy. They’re not distracted when you talk to them, and they focus completely on you.

 

Respect Boundaries

A positive influence respects your boundaries. They won’t question you or hold a grudge about it or become upset. They will respect and love you regardless.
