Today the organization has 320 members and works “to serve, preserve and promote its membership through educational opportunities, political advocacy and showcasing events.” One of those events is the Annual Parade of Homes. This three-day tour includes 34 homes ranging in value from $120,000 to $2 million, constructed by 16 builders and covering more than 320 miles in Washington and Benton Counties.

“The Parade of Homes is a great opportunity for people looking to build a custom home. It’s the best way for the public to speak with the builders in the homes they’ve built,” said Brenda Jones, executive officer for the NWAHBA. “Participants will have the pleasure of seeing a number of features such as great outdoor living spaces, which are still hugely popular, media rooms and smart home applications that allow users to control things like lighting, heating and air conditioning using smart phone apps.”

Jones said the homes will also showcase the latest innovations in lighting, cabinetry, flooring, countertops and more. Many of the homes are completely staged, so visitors can get decorating ideas as well as ideas for remodeling.

Several subcontractors who worked with the builders will be on hand to share information about special materials, specialty rooms — there’s a least one storm shelter — and things like landscaping.

A members-only dinner will be held June 18 during which awards will be given for the best curb appeal, best master suite, best kitchen, best floor plan and best overall home. These designations will be given in seven categories and are based on the costs of the homes. Plaques acknowledging the awards will be displayed in the homes.

AY is proud to be a media sponsor of the 2015 NWAHBA Annual Parade of Homes. Oak Tree, Liberty Bell, Holcomb Heights and Dixieland Crossing subdivisions are also sponsors for the tour, and each has at least one home in the tour.
