The Crown Jewel Cat Club will host its inaugural “A Royal Cat Show Extravaganza” Aug. 22-23 at the Maumelle Community Center. The show will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
“We wanted to create a show that feels like a true celebration of felines, for exhibitors and first-time visitors alike,” said Shayla Copas of Crown Jewel Cat Club. “Whether you’ve been showing cats for years or you’ve never been to a cat show in your life, come find out why we all love this so much. There is truly something for everyone, and every ticket helps rescue cats in need right here in Arkansas.”

The two-day event will bring exhibitors from across the country to showcase more than 30 pedigreed cat breeds competing for Cat Fanciers’ Association titles. All-Breed Judges will evaluate the cats based on health, temperament and conformation to their respective breed standards.
Visitors can expect to see breeds ranging from Maine Coons to Bengals, along with a variety of activities throughout the weekend.
A cat costume contest will be held each day around lunchtime, while vendors will offer cat-related products in a marketplace. The first 100 children attending will also receive a cat-inspired headband.

The event will have a charitable component as well. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local cat rescue organizations, and a rescue group will be on-site with cats available for adoption.
Tickets are available at the door for $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 4-12, $10 for seniors 65 and older and free for children 3 and younger. Cash, debit and credit cards will be accepted.

The Crown Jewel Cat Club says the event is intended to promote feline welfare as well as responsible and ethical breeding and showing.
Founded in 1906, the Cat Fanciers’ Association is the world’s largest registry of pedigreed cats. The organization focuses on the welfare and betterment of cats as well as the interests of pedigreed cat breeders and exhibitors.
