My friend Mara is someone I trust when it comes to recipes – and Netflix recommendations. You’ll want to get in her inner circle too once you make her Aunt Dot’s Chocolate Sheet Cake. I’m probably going to make it myself real soon. I mean, if we are in this together, I want us all to gain the COVID-19. Pounds that is.

Mara’s Aunt Dot’s Chocolate Sheet Cake

For the cake:

2 cups flour

2 1/2 cups sugar

2 sticks butter

4 oz baking chocolate

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1/2 teaspoon salt

Melt butter and chocolate in double boiler. Mix sugar, salt, flour; add melted chocolate & butter. Beat in eggs, vanilla and nuts. Spread in a 9 x 13 pan. It will he thick. Bake at 350 for 18-20 but use the wooden pick test. DO NOT OVERCOOK

For the icing:

Melt 1 1/2 sticks butter and 3 squares of chocolate, add 1 box of powdered sugar and this is important: 1 1/4 tsp Maple flavoring. Then add Pet Milk or heavy cream to thin, beat till creamy. Spread on cooled cake.
