If you know me just a little bit, you know I’m a dog lover, and our sweet doodle, Charlie Brown, who travels with us on our adventures, is gaining a following all his own. That is why August, our annual Pet Issue, is one of my favorites of the year. We cover all that goes into responsible pet ownership, from choosing the right breed to providing adequate healthcare to profiling the best groomers and boarders for your fur baby.

Most importantly of all, we feature adoptables available in central and northwest Arkansas in the hopes our big-hearted readers will step up and give these babies a forever home. Let’s do this, Arkansas!

Our cover story this month is also in step with the changing seasons. Ryan Silverfield, first-year head coach of the University of Arkansas football team, is approaching his much-anticipated debut as the new head Hog. Razorback fans will get to hear the coach lay out his plan for the coming season this month at the Aug. 24 installment of the Little Rock Touchdown Club, of which AY Media Group is a sponsor, but you can get a sneak peek inside.

Also in this issue, we celebrate the best in not one, but two key industries in Arkansas. Find inside our salute to the best attorneys and best healthcare professionals in the Natural State as nominated by the public or recognized by their respective fields. We are not only here to congratulate the outstanding practitioners listed, but we hope these sections serve as a valuable resource for anyone requiring medical or legal expertise.

We also profile multiple nonprofits this month and their important work in the community. We start in Hope with their annual watermelon festival, offering a sweet taste of late summer, and then visit Jacksonville for their fun community celebration. Finally, we catch up with the people behind Filmland, returning to Little Rock, this time bringing Hollywood A-lister Matthew McConaughey with them — star power at its best!

It is hard to believe we will soon be talking first day of school, Friday-night football games, fall color and cooler weather, but life moves fast, folks. Hold onto these magic moments as tightly as you can, and bring us along for the ride! We love being part of your lives.
