Fans of vintage machinery and Arkansas agricultural history can take a trip back in time this September when the Plantation Agriculture Museum hosts its 34th Annual Antique Tractor and Engine Show.
The free event will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum.
Owners and operators of antique tractors and small engines will be on hand throughout the event to share stories about the machines and explain their role in Arkansas’ agricultural history.
Visitors can also enjoy lawn games, food trucks and other family-friendly activities. The antique tractors will take part in two parades through the park at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The event also offers an opportunity to explore the museum’s collection, including antique tractors, a 1919 Munger cotton gin and press, a restored seed warehouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places and other artifacts documenting Arkansas’ agricultural heritage.
The event will also mark the opening of the museum’s new fall exhibit on pecan growing in Arkansas.
The museum will also participate in the Great Arkansas Cleanup by collecting glass for recycling from Sept. 4-13. Visitors can bring glass bottles, jars and containers to the museum. Information about recycling glass in central Arkansas throughout the year will also be available. The collection will not accept light bulbs, broken glass, plate glass or glass containers with lids that cannot be removed.
