On November 4, hundreds of people will come together in Little Rock and walk for a common goal…to fight suicide.
The Central Arkansas Out of the Darkness Community Walk to Prevent Suicide will take place at the Dickey-Stephens Ballpark from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Registration is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged and accepted through December 31. According to the official website, funds raised allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to “invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.”
A goal of $130,000 has been set for the Little Rock Walk, and the AFSP has set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate by 20% by 2025.
Many of us have experienced the pain of losing a loved one to suicide. The walk is an opportunity to raise awareness, showing people that they aren’t alone, and offering support to those affected by suicide.
