Maxine’s Tap Room Bartender Wins Competition

A Northwest Arkansas bartender walked away with winning title at the ROX STAR Bartender Competition finals, held at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock earlier this week.

Jorge Prado of Maxine’s Tap Room, located at 107 N. Block Avenue in Fayetteville, competed against Merrick Fagain of Trio’s Restaurant (Little Rock), Courtney Stowers of the Capital Hotel (Little Rock), Veo Tyson of So Restaurant Bar (Little Rock), Nilson Clark of Ben’s Apartment (Fayetteville) and Joshua Blackwell-Purdy of Local Flavor Cafe (Eureka Springs). Prado proceeded through a semifinal competition in Northwest Arkansas to compete in the Little Rock finals.

In addition to winning the right to call himself the “best bartender in Arkansas,” Prado will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans. Tales of the Cocktail, held from July 17-22,  is one of the world’s most prestigious bartender conferences.

The Arkansas ROX STAR Bartender Competition was hosted by ROXOR Artisan Gin and sponsored by AY Magazine. ROXOR is a Texas-based gin trying to innovate the gin industry with its unique mix of Texas grapefruit, sarsaparilla, Texas pecans, cocoa nibs and Italian juniper and traditional botanicals.
