This month, AY is bringing you the Comfort Food Bucket List, dedicated to all the places that will leave you leaning back in your seat and loosening your belt. This week, AY About You President and Publisher Heather Baker and Nichole Niemann with Arkansas Style stop by Loca Luna.

When it comes to comfort food, Loca Luna was the first restaurant to come to mind for Baker.

“Turkey and dressing – they have the best pimento cheese. It’s made in-house,” Baker said. “You can get meatloaf. They have giant burritos stuffed with shrimp. It is on point here.”

Baker and Niemann begin with the jam and pimento cheese on bread. It may sound like an unlikely pairing, but the taste shows jam and pimento cheese were meant for each other.

“Mashed potatoes, look at those green beans,” Baker said, in reference to the next dish. “And then we also have the turkey and the cranberry sauce.”

“Everybody has their own special secret recipe on how to do a meatloaf, so I’m going to be interested to see just what flavors they put in their meatloaf,” Niemann said. “I like a heartier [flavor] – this is definitely that.”

Next up, the ladies try out the restaurant’s specialty drinks, which came out looking beautiful.

“French 75. Pinkies up,” Niemann said. “Gin and champagne!”

“I have a Loca-politan,” Baker said. “Local like that. Let’s cheers to that!”

You can watch Baker and Niemann try out even more local favorites Wednesdays at 2 p.m. on KARK.
