UPDATE July 1, 2026

Juneteenth was more than a celebration, it was an opportunity for us to connect with more than 200 Arkansans and share meaningful conversations about ownership, financial empowerment, and generational legacy.
When we created Keeping It In The Family (KITF), our goal was to create spaces where people could have meaningful conversations about real estate, family, ownership, and legacy.

As Little Rock gears up to throw one of the largest Juneteenth celebrations in the region, one organization is putting the spotlight on an area of particular importance to many families — building, maintaining and passing on their financial legacy — all with the goal of making lasting connections and strengthening communities for years to come.

Founded by accomplished real estate attorney Christina Jenkins and renowned valuation professional Marcus Hill, Keeping it in The Family™ is a mission-driven education and advocacy organization dedicated to helping families acquire, protect and preserve generational wealth through real estate ownership, financial literacy and estate planning awareness. In the days leading up to Juneteenth, the group will host Juneteenth Generational Wealth, Real Estate & Legacy Week, putting on workshops and sharing information designed to put families on the path toward a lasting financial legacy.

“KITF was created to address one of the most critical issues impacting communities today — the loss of family property, wealth and legacy due to a lack of education, planning and access to trusted resources,” Hill said.

Through expert-led discussions, interactive education and community partnerships, attendees will gain practical insight into protecting inherited property and family assets; understanding property valuation and equity; estate planning and ownership strategy; insurance and financial preparedness; and building long-term generational wealth through real estate.

“Unlike traditional conferences, these events are intentionally designed to foster authentic networking, meaningful conversations and one-on-one engagement with trusted professionals and community leaders,” Hill said. “More than workshops, this collaborative experience will connect families with the knowledge, professionals and resources needed to build and protect generational wealth.”

Juneteenth Generational Wealth, Real Estate & Legacy Week will kick off with a Juneteenth Happy Hour on Tuesday, June 16, where attendees are invited to gather for an evening of networking and refreshments at One Eleven at The Capital Hotel in Little Rock. On Wednesday evening, KITF will host a Generations & Legacy Workshop at Greater Nation International Church, followed on Thursday by a Financial Freedom Workshop at the Regions Center.

“The Juneteenth Financial Freedom Workshop will bring together homeowners, aspiring buyers, real estate professionals, lenders, insurance professionals, investors and community leaders for meaningful conversations centered on wealth preservation, property ownership and legacy building,” Hill said.

In addition to insights from Hill and Jenkins, KITF’s programming will feature panelists such as JJ Meadors, a respected insurance professional with Allstate known for his leadership and community advocacy, as well as Kimberly Lee, financial inclusion officer and small business loan officer with Hope Credit Union, who is recognized for her work in financial education, community banking and expanding access to capital and financial resources.

A Little Rock native and graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Hill has nearly 20 years of experience in appraisal, property management and investments. At just 26 years old — and in the midst of the 2008 Great Recession — he became the youngest African American in Arkansas and in the country to launch a real estate appraisal company. Hill serves as CEO of Keeping it in The Family™, while Jenkins, whose own career in real estate as an attorney, author, entrepreneur and sought-after speaker spans nearly 30 years, serves as COO.

“As a Little Rock native who has recently returned home, this initiative is especially meaningful to me,” Hill said. “I have dedicated my career to educating individuals and families about homeownership, real estate, financial literacy and wealth building.”

Generational Wealth, Real Estate & Legacy Week will culminate on Friday at Juneteenth in Da Rock, hosted by the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. The Juneteenth Summit will see speakers, prominent figures and visionaries leading discussions and breakout sessions covering a variety of topics.

“Juneteenth Generational Wealth, Real Estate & Legacy Week is about financial empowerment, generational wealth preservation and direct community engagement,” Hill said. “Protecting wealth begins with access to trusted experts, trusted partnerships and trusted information.”
