AR Kids Read is hosting its 2nd annual Spellebrationthis weekend! This adult spelling bee will have sponsoring teams and their celebrity spokespeople compete for the title of Queen Bee. This event will have a light dinner and a silent auction. Individual tickets are $75.

What: Diamond Chef Arkansas 2019

Where: UA – Pulaski Tech Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute

When: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Diamond Chef Arkansas is where six local chefs will compete in two elimination rounds. It will be a fun night full of food and philanthropy at Central Arkansas’ premier culinary competition! The event will feature food samplings prepared by Pulaski Tech Culinary instructors and students, cocktails created by Kenneth Lipsmeyer, a wine pull, silent and live auctions, and more. Where: Second Presbyterian Church, Little Rock

When: 7 p.m.

River City Men’s Chorus is performing the final Imagine – Justice, Freedom, Peace Spring Concertthis Thursday at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. The concert will feature words from the songs of John Lennon as well as stories and narration from Dr. John Kirk. This event is free to the public. Doors open one hour before the show starts.

What: Kids Run Arkansas®

Where: Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center

When: 6 p.m.

Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center is hosting its 11th annual Kids Run Arkansas this weekend! Join the fun this Friday for games, face painting, and more before taking on the 1-mile and 3-mile walk and run. Registration is $10 per person and event is open for all ages.

What: Race for a Healthier Tomorrow Presented by First Financial Bank

Where: Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary

When: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

The inaugural Race for a Healthier Tomorrow is a timed 5k and 1-mile family walk happening this Saturday! The event will benefit Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary and feature medals, prizes, fundraising awards, and a fun fair. Registration for adult runners and walkers 18 or older costs $25,  $30 for virtual runners and walkers,  $10 for youth runners and walkers ages 5-17 years old, and child runners and walkers ages 4 and under are free.

When: Walk Check-in: 9:30 a.m.

Walk Start: 10:30 a.m.

ALS Association of Arkansas is hosting its 10th annual Central Arkansas Walk to Defeat ALSthis Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. The event will have food, kid-friendly activities and more! Fundraising for this walk helps drive innovation for treatment for those affected by ALS. Register online to participate as an individual or as a team to raise funds for this great cause.

Dog Days of Scienceis this weekend at the Museum of Discovery! Join the fun learning about dogs’ superpowers like how they can detect diseases, provide therapy, and act as service animals for police and military. Brews & Bitesis this weekend at the Outlets of Little Rock and will feature craft beer from local breweries, food trucks, and live entertainment! This event will benefit the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance and the Arkansas Food Bank. Tickets are $5. Alcohol sales are only available for those 21+ with a valid I.D.

Alzheimer’s Arkansas is hosting its 2019 Champion of the Yearthis weekend! The evening will include a live auction, dinner, entertainment, and a program honoring those who have made a difference for caregivers in Arkansas. This annual event is its largest fundraiser with last year’s event raising over $239,000. Tickets are $150.

What: 2019 Jewish Food and Cultural Festival

Where: War Memorial Stadium

When: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Jewish Federation of Arkansas (JFAR) is hosting the Jewish Food and Cultural Festivalthis weekend! Come out this Sunday for great tasting Jewish foods like cabbage rolls, blintzes, braised brisket, and kugel as well as Israeli dishes and Jewish treats. This event will also have booths about Jewish and Israeli culture as well as live music. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable items that will be donated to the Arkansas Foodbank.

Sophie the elephant is turning 50 years old this weekend! Come to the Little Rock Zoo Saturday afternoon for a fun-filled celebration where participants can play hide and seek by preparing gift sacks and hiding them in the elephant yard. Birthday cake will be provided.
