Heather Baker

AY Media Group is proud to announce that Heather Baker is stepping into the role of president. Baker has served as the publisher of the Arkansas-based media group, a role she has performed for the past four years. AY Media Group is an award-winning digital marketing and media company responsible for publishing:
AY About You, the state’s largest lifestyle magazine, as well as Arkansas Money & Politics, the state’s premiere business magazine, and Arkansas Mental Health Guide.

Baker has more than 20 years of experience in print publishing under her belt, including for the likes of Arkansas Times and as the creator of SAVVYkids, Arkansas Wild and Arkansas Autobuyer prior to joining AY Media Group (then Vowell Inc.) in 2017. Since then, AY has experienced unprecedented growth, with Baker at the forefront of the most successful era of the company’s 30-plus years in operation. This despite the current challenges of print and the difficulties presented by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

“I am excited to announce the promotion of Heather to president and publisher of AY Media Group. Heather’s more than 20-plus years in the publishing industry has her uniquely qualified for the job. She is a highly experienced, successful and well-regarded leader,” said Vicki Vowell, AY Media Group Chairman.

Notable achievements of the company with Baker as publisher include winning the Henry Award for Media Support at the Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism in 2018, Publication of the Year at the 2019 Arkansas Country Music Awards, and multiple staff members recognized with Diamond Journalism Awards from the Arkansas Society of Professional Journalists in 2020. Individually, Baker has been awarded Women’s Own Worth’s Woman of the Year in 2019 and serves on the state board for Junior Achievement of Arkansas.

“I am very proud of the progress and results that Heather and her team continue to achieve. I look forward to the company’s continued growth under her leadership and guidance,” said Vowell.

In this new role, Baker will continue to perform her previous duties as publisher and retain the title, in addition to the new responsibilities of president. Under the long-term leadership of Baker, AY Media Group will continue to look at ways to innovate the industry and tell the stories that celebrate the state of Arkansas.

“I’m excited to take on this new challenge and am grateful to Vicki Vowell for the opportunity to lead the company that she founded,” Baker said. “We have an incredible team made up of the best in the business, and I am confident that our brightest days are ahead of us at AY Media Group.”
