There’s no shortage of the outdoors in the Natural State, but there’s plenty of resources that you might not know about. AY Publisher Heather Baker dropped by The Vine this morning to talk about one of Arkansas’ hidden treasures: Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’ s many outdoor programs.
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) is committed to protecting Arkansas’ unique wildlife throughout the state. Part of their mission is educating the public through hands-on programs and nature center.
AGCF helps people learn more about the Natural State and have fun doing it. “This is the Natural State. We have so much to explore and so much to see. Game and Fish has the best opportunities for people,” Baker says.

One of the most recent programs is the Outdoor Skills Program, which allows students to earn patches in categories including archery, fishing and more. In fact, kids and their families can do this program together!
Students can also take advantage of AGCF’s shooting program, the most extensive youth shooting program in the country.
Families can also go to nature and educational centers. There are currently nine centers, and a new center, the Northwest Arkansas Nature and Education Center, is coming in July 2020. “There’s so much to do, and you can bring the family together to do this and go outdoors,” Baker says.
