The Argenta Outdoor Dining District is getting bigger as new development and investment continue in downtown North Little Rock.

The City of North Little Rock has expanded the district’s boundaries, adding areas south of Broadway and extending toward the riverfront. The expansion encompasses new and developing hospitality destinations in Argenta.

The North Little Rock City Council adopted Ordinance No. 9889 on Sept. 14, expanding the entertainment district that was initially established in 2020 and amended in 2023.

According to the ordinance, the expansion is intended to promote hospitality and entertainment in downtown Argenta while providing economic benefits to the city, residents and business owners.

The change comes as several developments take shape downtown, including the Tempo by Hilton Hotel, Willy D’s Dueling Pianos, Aloft Hotel and the North Little Rock Event Center.

“Makan Hospitality is so excited for the expansion of the entertainment district to now include the new Tempo by Hilton hotel and our surrounding neighbors! There is so much exciting growth happening throughout Argenta, and with the amazing local restaurants, great drinks, live entertainment, and the unique energy that makes this community special, this expansion will give more people the opportunity to explore, connect, and experience everything that Argenta has to offer! We can’t wait to be part of the continued momentum and exciting future of Argenta!” said Kal Makan, COO of Makan Hospitality.

Participating establishments within the Argenta Outdoor Dining District can take advantage of district regulations allowing the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in approved outdoor areas.

“As Argenta continues to grow and attract new businesses and visitors, it’s important that we’re proactive in planning for that growth and the opportunities it brings,” said Chris Kent, executive director of the Argenta Downtown Council. “Expanding the entertainment district is another step in supporting our existing businesses while welcoming new destinations that will bring even more people downtown. Our commitment remains the same: to keep making the Argenta Arts District a fun, safe and welcoming place for our residents, visitors and businesses to thrive.”

The expanded boundaries took effect immediately following the passage and approval of the ordinance.
