Emmitt Smith has officially been revealed as the celebrity grand marshal of the 21st Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will take place on March 17 in downtown Hot Springs.

Throughout his 15 seasons as a running back in the NFL, Smith amassed many records that still stand today, including most career rushing yards and most career rushing touchdowns. He has three Super Bowl championship rings and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2019, Smith was also named on the NFL 100 All-Time Team list.

“We are beyond thrilled that Emmitt Smith will be our grand marshal. He is fondly remembered by millions of fans as one of the greatest ever to play the game,” Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison said. “I know 98-foot Bridge Street won’t be able to contain all the fans who want to see this legend in person on March 17. But we have Central Avenue and Malvern Avenue before and after the parade route where fans will find plenty of room to cheer this sports icon.”

Smith will be joining Yellowstone star Forrie J. Smith, who was named earlier this year as the parade starter.
