On Sept. 4, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will unveil “Time Loop by Klip Collective: A Forest Light Experience,” an immersive light and sound installation inspired by the museum’s expansive wilderness. This new exhibit, crafted by the acclaimed creative studio Klip Collective, offers a mesmerizing journey through the passage of time and the changing environment.
Set in the museum’s North Forest, this outdoor experience features six large-scale installations: Endless Overture, Life Cycle, Repeater, Broken Time Machine, Infinite Wave, and Hereafter. Visitors will witness natural rhythms brought to life, explore a fractured time machine and marvel at the illuminated forest–all accompanied by a custom soundtrack during the Ozarks’ most beautiful season.
“’Time Loop’ is going to be the best kind of surprise for our visitors,” said Alejo Benedetti, the museum’s curator of contemporary art. “At night, the right artist can completely transform the North Forest into something mesmerizing. Klip Collective created a brilliant balance between a stunning, colorful, and fun experience that is also a deeply smart reflection on the familiar, strange and mysterious march of time. You’re going to be swept up while you’re here, but you’re going to keep thinking about this one long after you leave.”

Using digital mapping technology, Klip Collective animates the forest landscapes with light projections, transforming the North Forest into a site of exploration where time moves forward, backward, pauses, breaks, slips and blurs. These installations create an embodied experience of time that guides visitors through the dark along an endless loop.
“Focusing on ‘time’ as the common thread was an inspiring starting point in the creative process, and it manifested differently in each piece,” said Ricardo Rivera, creative director and founder of Klip Collective. “We experimented with time and the moving image, entropy, temporal processing shifts and symphonic visualizations. We’re particularly excited to show our first series of video sculptures in Life Cycle, a reflection on the cycles and transformations of energy in nature.”
“Time Loop” will be on view in the North Forest at Crystal Bridges from Sept. 4, 2024, through Jan. 5, 2025, Wednesdays through Sundays. Timed tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youth (ages 11-18). Members receive discounted rates, and children 10 and under are free.
