A new restaurant is bringing a taste of Chicago to Conway this spring, offering a lineup of gourmet sandwiches and Chicago-style staples that owner Corey Nelson says are unlike anything currently available in the state.
As reported by Pulse of Conway, Chicago Flamin Grill will open at 812 Chestnut St., in the former home of BMB Bakery, which recently moved to Front Street. The restaurant is targeting a mid-April debut, with early May as a backup opening window.
Nelson, a Chicago native with more than two decades of experience in the food industry, said the concept is rooted in both his background and his passion for elevated comfort food.
“I was thinking Chicago Flamin Grill because most of my food is gourmet, Chicago-style sandwiches,” Nelson said. “That’s what we specialize in.”
The menu will highlight iconic Chicago fare, including Chicago dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, gyros and pizza puffs. In addition to those staples, the restaurant will offer Southern favorites like fried catfish, catfish steak and wings with a variety of flavors, alongside sides such as fries, fried mushrooms, okra, hush puppies and coleslaw.
Designed primarily as a carry-out destination, the space will also include a small seating area for dine-in customers. Nelson envisions it as a convenient lunch stop with a distinct atmosphere, complete with décor inspired by the Chicago skyline.
“You come on your lunch break and will be able to get a nice sandwich,” Nelson said.
Planned hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or 9 p.m.
As opening day approaches, Nelson said he’s excited to introduce Conway diners to flavors he believes have been missing from the local food scene.
“I feel like a kid in a candy store,” he said.
