Five of the top chefs in central Arkansas are joining forces tonight for a feast to remember. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas (RMHCA) is throwing a healthy tailgate party to benefit families with critically ill children.

Families at the Ronald McDonald House are staying with children who are ill – a situation that is life-altering and stressful. To help with this, RMHCA spearheaded the Fresh & Frugal Program to provide healthy food options.

This all-star lineup of chefs includes Patrick Buchanan of Eurest at Simmons Bank, Brooke Hensley with Episcopal Collegiate, Patrick Herron with the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, Ryan Merritt-McGehee with The Clean Eatery and Izaak Winter with YaYa’s Euro Bistro.

During the tailgate party, attendees will enjoy an array of healthy and delicious food options. The chefs will be preparing healthy hamburgers, hot dogs, potato and pasta salads, fresh fruit popsicles and more.

“We are excited that families in the House will have this opportunity to interact with these amazing local chefs, enjoy a great dinner, learn healthy eating tips, and have fun,” RMHCA Executive Director Janell Mason says. “We are also thankful for the grant from Abbvie, who helps fund our Fresh & Frugal program here at Ronald McDonald House, for providing the fresh ingredients.”

All of the chefs are arriving at 5 p.m. on September 16 to begin the meal preparation. Many of the families will eat between 6-7 p.m.
