Big News for Northwest Arkansas! Cheers is Heading to Fayetteville

For those of you who are fans of Cheers in the Heights and Cheers in Maumelle, you’ll be happy to hear there’s a third Cheers coming soon. The highly popular Little Rock restaurant is finding a new home in Northwest Arkansas.

Opening in March, the latest Cheers is taking over an iconic location on East Center Street in the Fayetteville Square at the old post office building. Dating back to 1911, the old post office is a historical site and focal point in the heart of Fayetteville.

Cheers is heading to Northwest Arkansas.

Cheers is best known for its fried green tomatoes, Creole chicken and dumplings, salmon salad, certified Angus beef and fish specials. The owner, Chris Tanner, is also the owner of the upscale hop Samantha’s Taproom and Wood Grill in downtown Little Rock – the only Arkansas restaurant to have all beer and wine offerings available on tap; 32 and 20 respectively. The Fayetteville location will be a franchise sold by Tanner to Mike Arnold, whom some may already recognize as the owner of Razorback Pizza.

“The Cheers tradition we have is one of great food at all price points,” Tanner notes. “It’s a place for college students, families, groups of friends or private parties.”

One thing this Cheers will have that the others don’t is a wood fire stove similar to the one at Samantha’s. This will enable the kitchen to cook some of the most popular dishes from that restaurant, such as lamb chops, quail breast and shishito peppers. Cheers at the Old Post Office will be a mixture of historic charm and modern fun. The ambience will include wood tables, large open seating, TVs, a granite bar and an opening to the kitchen for bar guests to see the staff at work. The new restaurant will also feature two private rooms on the main level and a basement for large private parties, as well as a patio with a bar and rock fireplace.

Look for Cheers at the Old Post Office to open in March at 1 E. Center St., Fayetteville, AR.
