CALS Presents the Arkansas Literary Festival

Join the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) for a weekend full of literary fun. The Arkansas Literary Festival is set for April 26-29 in Little Rock. Hear from your favorite authors and learn about up-and-coming writers.

Don’t miss An Evening with Sebastian Junger, The Queen of Rockabilly and the annual Author! Author! party. An award-winning author, journalist and filmmaker, Junger will present the CALS J.N. Heiskell Distinguished Lecture for Journalism at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Musician Wanda Jackson, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is the Queen of Rockabilly. Rock out at her concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 in the CALS Ron Robinson Theater, then hear her life story at a Friday talk.

Your opportunity to interact with the authors goes beyond panel discussions and concerts; mingle with the best of them at Author! Author! at 7 p.m. Friday, April 27. Nothing goes with literature like food and libations. Tickets are $25 in advance and $40 at the door.

Other delicious events include a noon session with baker Martin Phillip on Friday, April 27, where he’ll read from his book Breaking Bread and a 1:30 p.m. talk on Sunday, April 29 with Brian Sorenson about his book Arkansas Beer: An Intoxicating History. Tickets to Martin’s session will be $15 and $5 covers a beer or a flight at Sorenson’s event.

CALS will release a complete schedule April 2. Many of the festival’s events are free. For more information, visit
