An independent Western film, “Broken Trail,” just wrapped production in Van Buren and surrounding areas. Its official Instagram has tagged other cities in its posts, including Fayetteville and Prairie Grove.
“Broken Trail” is directed by Johnny Remo and produced by Skipstone Pictures. Reminiscent of the Wild West, the movie is set on the backdrop of the Arkansas River Valley, with freshly laid dirt coating the streets of Van Buren’s downtown.

Remo wrote this film alongside Daniel Backman, a longtime collaborator of the writer-director.
Earlier this month, Deadline reported several notable stars have been cast for this film, including the following: Rumer Willis, known from “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood,” Gbenga Akinnagbe, known from “Rob Peace,” Jeff Fahey, from “Lost” and Graham Green from “Echo.”
Set in 1875, “Broken Trail” depicts a widowed woman (Willis) named Katherine’s life after her husband’s murder was orchestrated by the nefarious Colonel Davis (Fahey). Katherine unexpectedly crosses paths with John Scobell (Akinnagbe), a former Pinkerton agent with a troubled past. The unlikely duo connect over their shared desire for retribution for Caleb’s untimely death.
