There is no question to the stand-alone-ability of good breakfast food; a high stack of flapjacks topped with a pad of butter and syrup drizzling down its edges or the perfect omelet, bursting at the seams with gooey cheese, vegetables and your favorite breakfast meat requires no necessary companion other than maybe a cup of joe or a cold glass of orange juice. But what if that glass of sweet citrus had just a little splash of champagne in it? For that warm cup of coffee, a nip of bourbon cream? Adding a cocktail to your breakfast or brunch tablescape takes what is already the best meal of the day and makes it even more magnificent.

Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
