This spring, it’s blondes vs. brunettes as two groups of Central Arkansans face off to raise money for our state’s chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
From noon to 3 p.m. May 5, two teams will meet on the field at Pulaski Academy at 12701 Hinson Road in Little Rock to battle it out, flag-football style. AY Publisher Heather Baker is the captain of the Blondes team, and one of the event’s top fundraisers so far. She’ll lead her team of 17 on the field.
“I have two family members who are dealing with the pain of Alzheimer’s right now,” Baker says. “If you have family who is going through this, the Alzheimer’s Association will help. I enjoy working with both the Arkansas chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Arkansas, another great organization.”
2017 was Baker’s first year participating in RivALZ, and her team won the fundraiser. She hopes the blondes will be victorious in 2018, too. Click here to donate on Baker’s behalf. Donating to a player gains you admission to this year’s game.
In addition to Baker, the Blondes team includes Caroline Azzone, Ali Bailey, Penny Burkhalter, Jonie Burks, Hannah Butcher, Becky Caldwell, Michelle Doty, Amber Duch, Katlyn Gardenhire, Kelli Heathman, AY Account Executive Stacey McClellan, Marla McCrary, Monica Morris, Carey Parker, Rosanne Pignio and Jennifer Shelton.
Dana Kelley is the Brunettes’ team captain. Her team of 13 includes Amanda Allison, Jill Cafy, Chrissy Cook, Jamie Fuell, Kersandra Kelley, Leah McCarver, Jacie McMahan, DeAundra Nash, Desiree Overton, Alice Scheer, Jamie Soos and Melissa Zygowicz.
You can also sign up to join a team or donate.
Other RivALZ games are being organized across the country, including one in Northwest Arkansas. See another blondes vs. brunettes game in NWA from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 21 at Champions Stadium, located at 1707 Johnson St. in Springdale.
