Looking for a fun Valentine’s Day activity this coming February? Then make sure to check out Ballet Arkansas’s newest production, Fire and Rain, at the UA Pulaski Tech Center for Humanities and Arts!
“There’s something in the show for everyone,” Ballet Arkansas dancer Deanna Stanton says. “I really feel like this show is setting us up for something amazing for the audience to be a part of.”
Ballet Arkansas has combined drama inspired by classical ballet with the power from contemporary dance to bring together a spectacular Valentine’s Day performance.

“Pairing Romeo and Juliet with Valentine’s Day is a no-brainer for people that like Valentine’s Day and want to see passion,” Ballet Arkansas’ Associate Artistic Director and performer Catherine Fothergill says. “Don Quixote, on the other side, is just a very fiery classical ballet.”
The show will bring three different love stories into one show including the Don Quixote Suite, the iconic balcony scene from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and a tribute to Rock and Roll Hall of Famer James Taylor, choreographed by Ballet Arkansas. “It’s really a challenge to be that intimate,” Fothergill says. “They [the dancers] have to really dig deep and fall in love with that person on stage.”
This is Ballet Arkansas’s second production of their winter lineup following their annual production of The Nutcracker.
“I feel like every show that Ballet Arkansas puts on gets better and better,” Stanton says. “Anything that Michael and Catherine put together is really structured for the audience to bring them in.”
Ticket prices range from $15 to $35. Shows start Thursday, February 14 at 7 p.m. and run through Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
