Makeup Artist, Owner, Faces by Stephanie

Stephanie Throckmorton-Duty’s guiding aim to do good for others has changed little through the decades, from a career in the pageant and fashion worlds to a retirement focused on giving back in various ways.

“My goal is to leave a positive legacy for the women I meet and work with, encouraging others to reach their full potential in life and be the best versions of themselves,” she said.

Throckmorton-Duty obtained her degree in fashion merchandising and has held numerous roles in the arts, including as a dance instructor, fashion stylist and makeup artist. She worked as a national sales and regional retail manager for several cosmetics brands, as well as a guest host for ShopNBC. She also appeared regularly in makeup segments on Good Morning Arkansas.

“Building strong relationships with brands and retailers is what I love the most,” she said. “People have always been my favorite part of my positions throughout the years.”

Throckmorton-Duty is also a former Mrs. Arkansas USA and a top-10 finalist in the Mrs. USA pageant. Inducted into the Miss Arkansas Hall of Fame in 2017, she has served as a makeup artist, sponsor and prep committee member for Miss Arkansas. In 2018, Throckmorton-Duty was honored as the CARTI Festival of Fashion Style Icon.

“After traveling most of my 35 year career, I have always cherished my state, Arkansas,” she said. “I decided when I retired that I would use all that I have learned and share with the women of my home sweet home.”

Throckmorton-Duty does makeup and skin care consultations for women of all ages and said she loves to empower women by helping them be confident in any stage of life. For the past nine years, she has served on the board of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation, which raises more than $300,000 annually to help contestants further their education. Throckmorton-Duty called being a part of the foundation one of her most important roles, but even more than that, she said it reflects the deep generosity of Arkansans — the Miss Arkansas system, thanks to its donors, is one of the top scholarship providers for women in the Miss America Competition.

“It’s just an unbelievable thing for such a small state to be able to raise that kind of money for education for our young women in Arkansas,” she said. “It is a service that I am very proud of and that I’d love to do every day, every year.”
