Why use a travel advisor?

If you use us, you get it—but if you’ve never worked with a travel advisor, we invite you to give us a call. There are reasons why some of our clients have been with us since we opened almost 58 years ago. For one thing, travel advisors make travel less stressful. When booking a vacation, the last thing you should have to do is worry. We advocate on your behalf. We provide personalized attention. We tailor our services to your individual needs. Simply put, we are specialists, and you need one of those in today’s world. Think of travel as a unique purchase—you’re buying both a product and a service.

Why use Poe Travel?

We bring decades of experience and reliability to each trip. Because of our relationships with our travel partners, we can actually save you money as well as provide exclusive access to experiences not available to less established agencies. We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve just become a Four Seasons preferred partner, which translates into great benefits for our clients. Even more importantly, however, we save you time—which is, after all, your most precious commodity. We can work with any budget. We create custom itineraries—coordinating flights, transfers, accommodation, tours, meals and exclusive visits—based on your preferences. Ultimately, we consider ourselves your own personal concierge service.

What’s one of the more unique experiences that you’ve arranged for a client?

There are so many! Whether it’s a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya followed by a champagne brunch, a “Game of Thrones” guys’ trip to remote Iceland, or a private visit to the Sistine Chapel (transcendent!), we can make it happen.

Which destinations should be on everyone’s bucket list?

Each client is unique and has his/her own particular set of interests and goals. That said, some of my personal favorites are: Galapagos, all of Africa, Israel, Australia, Germany, Poland . . . as you can see, what isn’t my favorite? As you travel through life, your interests change and evolve. Really it’s about striking a balance—sometimes you may want to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone—like taking a gorilla trek in Uganda—but sometimes you just want to retreat to the comfort of a Four Seasons!

What are some recent travel trends?

These days it’s all about family travel. People want to create memories that last a lifetime and experience all they possibly can with those they love. They’re seeking shared moments rather than things. Some of today’s multigenerational travelers are taking go-at-your-own-pace river cruises while others are opting for far-flung, adventurous destinations, such as Antarctica.

The other notable trend is culinary and wellness tourism. People want entire vacations planned around food with destinations being chosen based on their culinary offerings. Experiences can range from visiting traditional markets, dining at acclaimed restaurants, or simply sharing a meal with locals.

Why is travel important?

I could fill a page with this answer, but essentially, it is about making connections, learning to see in a new way, expanding your horizons, and, let’s be honest, having fun! We embrace the Eleanor Roosevelt philosophy, “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
