Arkansas-born singer-songwriter Abbey Pierce has released her latest single, “Never Forever,” an upbeat country heartbreak song that pairs retro influences with a modern, late-night sound.

Released Sept. 25 on all streaming platforms, “Never Forever” follows Pierce’s debut album, Don’t Call Me Darlin’, released earlier this year, and her recent single, “Way Back Playback.”

Built around an infectious rhythm and nostalgic production, the new track contrasts its dance-floor energy with a story about realizing that being an important part of someone’s life doesn’t necessarily mean being part of their future.

“Sometimes you can think you mean so much to someone but it’s eventually revealed that they never saw you as part of their future,” Pierce said. “That’s what ‘Never Forever’ is about. It’s that moment when you realize you can be damn near everything to someone except their forever. And somehow, I wanted to make that realization something freeing… A song that lets you feel the heartbreak, then leave it on the dance floor.”

A four-time Arkansas Country Music Award nominee, Pierce blends ’90s country influences, Southern rock and modern songwriting. “Never Forever” explores a more rhythmic, retro-inspired side of her music while maintaining the personal storytelling that has characterized her work.
