5 Things to Do on a Summer Day in Central Arkansas

The northwest region of the state doesn’t have a monopoly on outdoor recreation in Arkansas. Check out our list of things to do right in our capital city and the surrounding area.

1. Pickin’ Peaches

Did you know that Pulaski County has its very own peach orchard? If you love fresh fruit, it doesn’t get any fresher than this. Take your friends – or your kids – to the Faulkner Lake Orchard at 503 Morris Road in North Little Rock.

2. Urban Paddling

Go boating on that river you drive over every day. Rock Town River Outfitters is now giving guided kayak tours of the Arkansas River. See Little Rock from a whole new angle.

3. Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Never been to a Travelers game? Well now’s your chance. Seeing Little Rock’s minor league team is a major good time. Get tickets here or like the team on Facebook for more information.

4. Lions and Tigers and Bears

That’s right, the Little Rock Zoo. Visit Trudy, one of the world’s oldest gorillas, or one of the zoo’s two rhinos. The zoo is open every day of the week, except for holidays and Razorback game days at War Memorial Stadium.

5. Slide Into Summer

Everyone loves a water park; head to Wild River Country on one of these hot sunny days. Make sure you check the park’s hours before you leave the house; their schedule changes depending on the season and day of the week.
