Camp Aldersgate has named Brant and Joanie Foster and their sons, Jack and Riley, as Family Chairs of its 43rd Annual Fish Fry, set for Sunday, Oct. 18.
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Camp Aldersgate in Little Rock, bringing the community together for food and family-friendly activities while supporting the camp’s programs.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to chair the Fish Fry as a family this year,” Joanie said. “Volunteer work has always been a part of what we do together, and co-chairing an event like this, the four of us—it’s just super special.”
Brant and Joanie met at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and now live in Little Rock. Brant owns a financial planning firm, Foster & Associates, while Joanie teaches Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Jack and Riley are pursuing careers in medicine and veterinary medicine, respectively.
Brant’s connection to Camp Aldersgate dates back to his childhood, when he attended an asthma day camp there while living with severe asthma. He later returned as a volunteer during a summer camp session for children who had received transplants.
“Getting to see the joy that these children had to be at camp and to experience fishing was a very moving experience for me,” Brant said. “These children have been faced with hardships in their lives, and to have a place like Camp Aldersgate where they can laugh and play and just be kids is amazing.”
That family involvement has continued with Jack and Riley, who have volunteered alongside their parents on projects including landscaping around the Camp Aldersgate campus.
“We have always been a tight-knit family, so it didn’t surprise me when Jack and Riley wanted to help co-chair,” Brant said. “My family is well aware that we had many people who invested in us as young people, and it is important for us to do the same.”
At this year’s Fish Fry, Jack said he is looking forward to “the serving of good catfish,” while Riley is anticipating the fishing derby and “seeing all those kiddos reeling them in.”
Proceeds from the 43rd Annual Fish Fry will support Camp Aldersgate’s programs for children, youth and young adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities and medical diagnoses.
