Heather Baker’s Weekend Plans: Arkansas State Fair and More

Stay “in the know” about all the great events going on around Arkansas. AY’s Publisher, Heather Baker, will tell you what the hot spots are this weekend.

Thursday, Oct. 11

This is the big event! From Oct. 11 to Oct. 21, enjoy all the food, rides and fun you can possibly handle. Of course, we’re talking about the Arkansas State Fair. This annual event will feature great entertainment, including the Charlie Daniels Band, POD and Ginuwine. And food! The food is absolutely fantastic. It’s a week-long event, so there’s no excuse to miss it! Get your tickets here.

Head out and sample some of the best food Conway has to offer at Taste of Conway, which will be held between 5 and 7 at the Conway Expo Center. Favorites like Tacos 4 Life, Andy’s Frozen Custard, JJ’s Grill, Zeteo Coffee, Cross Creek Sandwich Shoppe, and Don Pepe’s Gourmet Burritos and Tacos will be participating. Tickets are $15 per person, and children 10 and under get in free. They can be purchased here!

Get out and party on your favorite local spot’s pavilion! The Locally Labeled Pavilion Party will have music, food and drinks – all you need for a great party! Music will be provided by Tragikly White, food trucks will be slinging good eats, and there will be plenty of bar games to play. The event allows you to become familiar with the Locally Labeled Passport program and sample or purchased local drinks. Participating places include Lost Forty, Flyway, Dugan’s, Buffalo Brewing Company, An Enchanting Evening, Diamond Bear, etc.

Don’t miss the 40thanniversary of CabotFest this weekend. The carnival starts Thursday and continues through Saturday. While Thursday and Friday are carnival days, Saturday is the full festival. There’s going to be a 5k race, a pageant, and plenty of live music and food. Make sure you don’t miss out on cricket spitting while you’re there. Check out the event here!

Friday, Oct. 12

Women’s Own Worth is presenting their fifth annual WOWapalooza to raise awareness and support for victims of domestic violence. There will be an amazing dinner, entertainment, a silent and live auction, and it’s all for a great cause. You can check out Jajuan Archer’s personal story of strength and overcoming domestic violence herself in the latest issue of AY Magazine. There’s an online raffle going on at the Women’s Own Worth website for a Louis Vuitton purse, and you don’t have to be present at WOWapalooza to win.

Saturday, Oct. 13

The Hogs are coming back to Little Rock! This Saturday, the Razorbacks will be playing Ole Miss at War Memorial Stadium. Get your tickets to support the team and call the Hogs! If you’re more interested in tailgating, we’ve got you covered. Head over to the War Memorial Golf Course for a tailgate to remember!

Sunday, Oct. 14

Join nonprofit organization, Camp Aldersgate, for an afternoon of fried fish and classic sides, face painting, live entertainment, fishing derbies, a petting zoo, rides and more! It’s for a great cause, as Camp Aldersgate provides social service programs to people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Tickets are $15 per person, and can be purchased here.
