Heather Baker’s Weekend Plans: Indigo Little Rock, Spa-Con and More

Check out the  great activities going on in Arkansas this weekend! Here are some of AY Publisher Heather Baker’s weekend activity suggestions!

Thursday, September 20th

Don’t be fashionably late to Indigo’s 15thbirthday bash! The shop is celebrating 15 years of service with giveaways, drinks, good eats, DJs, dancing, a braid bar and more! Check out the new arrivals while you’re there, something is sure to catch your eye. Drop by Indigo Little Rock between 4-8 p.m.

 Zoo Brew is back and better than ever before! There will be hundreds of beers to sample, scattered all over the Little Rock Zoo. You’ll also have the opportunity to play some Bear Pong, sponsored by Diamond Bear Brewery, so get a team together and register online. Food vendors will be serving up your favorites, and live music will be playing at three live music areas around the zoo. Tickets are $30 in advance, or $35 at the door. They can be purchased here.

Hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, friends, games and a good cause? Bingo! Bingo for Bags is a business casual event that kicks off at 6 p.m. at Next Level Events. Donors from the Little Rock area have donated bags and accessories valued at $200 or more as prizes for 10 rounds of bingo. There will also be a silent auction, and all proceeds benefit IFB Solutions. Tickets start at $100 per person, and can be purchased here.

Friday, September 21nd to Sunday, September 23rd

Unleash your inner geek at the 3rd annual Spa-Con in Hot Springs! This convention isn’t just focused on science fiction and comics. It will feature virtual reality exhibits, hands-on workshops, cosplay and laser tag. Yes, laser tag! Celebrities, including Pam Grier, will be signing autographs and taking pictures during the convention. A day pass for the event is $20, while a weekend pass is currently $25. Hurry though, the weekend pass price will increase on Friday! Get your tickets here! 

Saturday, September 22nd

Start fall off right at Festival in the Park at Two Rivers Park. This family and pet-friendly festival is just what you need to get in the fall spirit! There will be games, food trucks, contests, inflatable, entertainment and activities for all ages! There will be something for everyone. If you’re in the mood for something new, try a funnel cake burger while you’re there. The event will be an all-day affair, lasting from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There’s nothing better than a food festival! Especially delicious Turkish food. Raindrop Foundation is hosting the annual Turkish Food Fest on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 1501 Market St., in Little Rock. The fest will highlight Mediterranean and Central Asian dishes, including kebabs, gyros and lahmajoon. In addition, shop for handmade items and watch artists as they practice calligraphy and tile painting.

Ever wanted to try goat yoga? This Saturday, you’ve got your chance! Head to Barnaoo, hosted by Heifer International at the Heifer Village and Urban Farm, located at 1 World Avenue, in Little Rock. There will be a Latin dance performance, an international fashion show and a honey extraction workshop. This free event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Become a superhero and help benefit the Hematology/Oncology Department at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. On Saturday, you can don your cape and join in the Superhero Dash-n-Bash at War Memorial Stadium. Compete with other teams to raise the most money for a great cause!
