Music appreciation is on the agenda for this weekend with both Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and the “Louder Than Words: Rock, Power and Politics” exhibit coming to Little Rock.
Friday through Sunday
Beautiful tells the story of award-winning songwriter from Brooklyn, Carole King. The performance is touring off of Broadway and showcases some of her hits, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and more. The show will be at the Robinson Center Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 2. Tickets for Beautiful can be purchased online on Ticketmaster.
“Louder Than Words” is a historical exhibit of American rock ‘n’ roll. It arrived at the Clinton Presidential Center on March 12 and will stay until August 5, 2018. The exhibit will cover 60 years of rock ‘n’ roll and the impact it has had. Student tour reservations for “Louder Than Words” can be found on the Clinton Presidential Center’s website.
Friday and Saturday
Neighborhood grillmasters can head to War Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday for PK Grills’ 2018 Cookout. The Arkansas-based grill company will be hosting a meat class and book signing by Jess Pryles, followed by a welcome party, on Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, there will be a steak cookoff from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To register for the cookoff, head to PK Grills’ website.
Saturday
If you’re fifteen or younger and love to fish, head to Pinnacle Mountain State Park’s pond on Saturday for the Kids’ Fishing Derby. The derby will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. and is free for any fisher with a valid fishing license. Once the derby is over, the pond will be open for all ages. Casting contests, snacks and prizes will be provided, but you must bring your own bait and tackle.
