Sizzling steak fajitas, rum-soaked tres leches cake, grilled chicken tacos, spinach enchiladas…our mouths are watering just thinking about it. Come on, 5 o’clock.
Local Lime is known and loved in the Little Rock area, and if you’ve tried it for yourself, you know why.
The trendy Fresh-Mex restaurant is expanding to Rogers next month, and it’ll be located in the Pinnacle Hills Promenade. An official opening date is to be announced on social media soon.
So get ready, Northwest Arkansas —it’s going to be love at first bite, we promise.
Amber Brewer of Yellow Rocket Concepts says the Rogers restaurant features a bar twice as large as the Little Rock bar, along with a private dining area for guests to take advantage of. Due to the unique layout of the building, there’s also plenty of space to mingle around in—margarita in hand, of course.
“Like the Little Rock location, this space features custom Arkansas-built furniture, handmade art and finishes. Additionally, because of the larger floor space, we were able to incorporate a lot of custom tile work and design details,” Brewer says.
Over the past six years, Brewer says the menu has been shaken up and specials have been developed. One thing certainly hasn’t changed though, and that’s Little Rock’s love for their Caribbean Beer-Battered Shrimp Tacos, boozy Three Rums Tres Leches Cake, Roasted Zucchini & Pepita Salsa and Ahi Citrus Ceviche.
“These popular dishes actually all work together, and may just make for a perfect meal,” she says. “Start with the Ahi Citrus Ceviche – a cool combination of sushi-grade ahi tuna, avocado, cucumber, and lime tossed in our daily made creamy ginger-citrus vinaigrette. While waiting on your tacos, our Roasted Zucchini & Pepita Salsa is the perfect snack. Each batch is made from roasted zucchini, green chiles, onion, cilantro, and lime, and topped with crunchy, savory pepitas. A bed of crispy carrot slaw, topped with golden beer battered shrimp, curried crema, fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime —yes please! The Caribbean Shrimp taco is a colorful, flavor-packed treat. Pair it with our Two Step Jalapeño Margarita, and you’re practically on vacation.”
You’ll definitely want to save some room though, and finish up your meal with a local favorite that’s dangerously delish—the Three Rums Tres Leches Cake. The cakes are baked fresh in-house, then soaked in condensed milk, dark rum, light rum, and spiced aged rum. After soaking all night long, each piece is topped with fluffy whipped cream and a house-brandied cherry. Careful though, eat too much of this little slice of heaven and you’ll be seeing sideways!
Brewer says her personal favorite dish at Local Lime is the Pescado Veracruz, a beautiful pick with several layers of flavor. A sizzling iron skillet is piled high with grilled salmon, garlic, green olives, tomatoes, peppers, capers and grilled jalapeños. Hey, don’t mind if we do!
“The plate is finished with a chargrilled cebollita, and grilled lemon half for a little squeeze of smoky acidity to bring every flavor to life,” she says. “Pezcado Veracruz is hands down my go-to Local Lime dish.”
Chef Scott McGehee and Chef Ben Brainard’s original recipes truly set the restaurant apart from similar taco joints, Brewer insists, along with culinary creativity, top-notch service and close attention to detail. Chips at Local Lime are hand-cut and fried every day, and all six to-die-for salsas are prepared from scratch each morning.
“There are many great Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Cali-Mex inspired places to dine in our city, yet our special flavor combinations, delicious fresh of-the-moment seasonal produce, monthly specials, consistently delicious cocktails, and warm, friendly staff make each visit delicious, satisfying, and unique in the category,” Brewer explains. “Local Lime is a great place to experience fresh, Mexican-inspired dishes with a local twist, created by incredible chefs from our community.”
Cheers!
