Owner - The Bridal Cottage • Marketing and Events Consultant for KABZ 103.7 The Buzz
Lindy Lanford often quotes NBC News anchor Lester Holt when describing her career path, “You never know what doors are going to open up and why they are going to open up. You’ve got to be ready to walk through them.”
Looking at her path, it’s easy to understand why she uses the quote regularly. While building her career and business, she has remained doggedly loyal to her hometown, serving on the boards of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and the Park Hill Business and Merchants Association, which is focused on improving the Park Hill Historic District.
Education: Master’s of journalism from UALR and a B.A. in English from Valparaiso University
Hometown: North Little Rock
First job: Sue’s Pie Shop selling sandwiches and homemade pies.
What was your first big break? I actually have had three big breaks in my professional life!
While finishing up grad school, Neal Gladner, general manager and programming director for KARN Newsradio 102.9, hired me as a producer on “Hot Rod” Ray Lincoln’s show. This job changed my life. I learned radio from two of the best in the Little Rock market, and Neal and Ray became my biggest cheerleaders and mentors.
The second was when I worked as a server at The Terrace in Little Rock. Philip Jonsson, owner of KABZ 103.7 The Buzz, was a weekly customer. When the station was looking for a promotions and marketing director, Mr. Jonsson sought me out.
The third was when I went shopping for my wedding dress at The Bridal Cottage. I said yes to a dress, and the owner, who was my bridal consultant, and I developed a fond friendship. When she decided to close the store, I knew that I wanted to continue the legacy of The Bridal Cottage and give the experience that I had to future brides.
I am now also working with the Buzz family as their marketing and events consultant. I am thrilled to be back in radio, where it all began!
What’s something others would be surprised to know? I adore the natural outdoors of Arkansas! My husband and I love to spend time relaxing at our cabin near the Buffalo National River.
What do you love most about what you do? At The Bridal Cottage, my staff and I make dreams come true every day. We cherish our time with each bride and are truly honored to be able share beautiful moments during this special time in their life.
Person, past or present, you admire most: My mother. She is the strongest and most beautiful person inside and out. She is my rock and my best friend.
Personal motto: Take chances! Don’t leave room for regrets.
What talent do you wish you had? I wish I could play the guitar, sing and write music!
Favorite food: Hummus! But for my guilty pleasure, it’s definitely cheese dip!
Hobbies: Reading. Hands down. It’s my escape. Give me a good mystery novel, I am a happy girl.
