Heather Baker’s Weekend Plans: Haunted Hotel, Cuisine for a Cause, Young Lions Obstacle Course and More

Check out some of the fun events going on this weekend with our publisher, Heather Baker!

Thursday 27th

Head down to the Verizon Arena if you want to sample a variety of delish bites and drinks from over 30 chamber member restaurants. Network with local businesses, participate in the raffle and maybe even win some free tickets while you’re at it! The event runs from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. They can be purchased here.

Help drive hunger away with Potluck Food Rescue at 621 West Broadway Street! Driving Away Hunger runs from 6:30-9:30 p.m., and dinner will be provided by From the Heart Food Truck. Loblolly is serving dessert, and Flyway and Diamond Bear have your favorite brews!  Proceeds go toward new trucks, and the event is casual. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased here.

Join The 1836 Club at 6:30 p.m. for a delicious seven-course meal from the top chefs in Central Arkansas, all while benefitting Our House. It doesn’t get much better than this! Food will be provided by Ben E. Keith Foods, and wine by Colonial Wine and Spirits. Tickets are $150 per person, and can be purchased here.

Friday 28th

It’s that time of year! Clowns, masks, ghosts and flashing lights will be waiting for you at 3400 Brown St. in Little Rock. The Haunted Hotel of Arkansas’ opening night is Friday, so get ready to jump, scream and tremble through one of Arkansas’ scariest walk-through attractions. Tickets are only $15-25 per person, so don’t miss out on checking the hotel out before it closes in early November.

Saturday 29th

Cheers to fall! Head to MacArthur Park for German Biergarten between 4 and 8 p.m. to sample some cold ones from your favorite local breweries. Brats and kraut will be served, and pets and children are welcome to attend. Admission is $10 and includes three beer tokens and a brat plate. Additional tokens can be purchased as well.

Bust out the tennis shoes, and walk for a great cause at the Little Rock Zoo. Alzheimer’s Arkansas is hosting this commemorative walk in memory of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a senior zone, a food drive and a variety of fun activities to participate in. All proceeds benefit free programs in the central Arkansas area. Register here!

Take part in a tasty evening of catfish, chicken tenders, music and more. Bridging the Need: A Family Fish Fry will be held at DoubleTree in Little Rock from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. Tickets are $20 per person, and kids 12 and under get in free. Tickets can be purchased here.

Calling all cubs! The first-ever Young Lions Obstacle Course is here! The event at MacArthur Park will be about 1.5 miles long, with a variety of fun and challenging obstacles for the kiddos to enjoy. Ages 5-17 are welcome to participate between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and each young lion will receive a swag pack, including a t-shirt, medal, photos and more! Registration is $45 per person, and tickets can be purchased here!
