Choosing the best skin care routine can be completely overwhelming.  There are so many skin care products and brands on the market.  We are constantly flooded with choices in skin care from watching a commercial on TV, walking into Target, or from our bestie on Facebook. How can we know which products to choose? Why is one skin care line better than another? How can we afford the products we need? Here are a few tips:

1. Choose a Medical Grade Skin Care.

Medical grade products are made up of ingredients that can only be purchased with a medical license and can only be sold through physicians’ offices. These products are developed through clinical research and the amount of active ingredients is much higher than the amount in over-the-counter products. These products penetrate the skin better and are able to deliver a higher concentration of active ingredients. Higher amounts of active ingredients = healthier, glowing skin!

2. Choose Game Changers.

You don’t have to have the entire skin care line in order to see results in your skin. You can have a great skin care routine and still stay on budget. Choose one or two game-changing products based on what your skin needs the most.

3. Have Realistic Expectations.

Products that claim you will look 10 years younger overnight or say they will reduce the appearance of aging within a week are too good to be true.  Skin care products deliver modest results.  You won’t get the results of a facelift from a cream. And just because it says it is “clinically proven” doesn’t necessarily mean that the product went through clinical trials and received approval from the FDA.

My advice is to spend more on a serum or treatment than a basic face wash.  At the end of the day, you know your skin better than anyone.  Concentrate on what you want to improve and invest in that!
