#GivingTuesdaySaline Demonstrates The True Spirit of Giving

#GivingTuesday, held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is inspiring everyone to give back; and local nonprofits in Saline County are taking it one step further with #GivingTuesdaySaline. The festive event encourages community members and businesses to make a donation that will be shared among participating charities.

In its second year, #GivingTuesdaySaline is a collaboration of 10 area charities: The Boys and Girls Club of Bryant, The Boys and Girls Club of Saline County, CASA of Saline County, Christian Community Care Clinic, Civitan Services, Habitat for Humanity of Saline County, Saline County Safe Haven, Saline Memorial Health Foundation, The Call, and The Vine and The Branches.

“As a member of the board of several charitable organizations, I know that many charities are stretched very thin at this time of year,” said Paul White, President of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Board of Directors. “Participating in Giving Tuesday is a fantastic way to support these great organizations that play such a vital role in serving our community in so many important ways.”

“We are stronger together than we are individually when it comes to a community-wide movement to motivate individuals to stop during the busy holiday season and give from their hearts,” said Leigha Jones, Community Development Director, Civitan Services. “We invite you to join the #GivingTuesdaySaline movement and take action to support the charities and causes who help create a better community.”

Last year, more than 27,000 organizations in 68 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours and activities that bring about real change in communities.

#GivingTuesdaySaline is Tuesday, December 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Best Buy parking lot in Bryant. The community is invited to stop by for free hot dogs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and 5-6 p.m. Attendees will also enjoy Christmas treats, pictures with Santa and music from DJ Raquel from 3-6 p.m.
