Ever wonder about the inner workings of show business? Adults and young artists alike will have a chance to get an inside look at The Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s way of doing things in July, thanks to new summer programming.

Katherine Silverman, Education Associate for The Rep, says, “This is a really exciting new beginning for us. We’ve had arts education in the past and it’s been very successful, but we want to be able to grow and reach more of the community.”

The workshops will take place on Thursday, July 7 for adults (18 and older), and on Friday, July 8 for young artists (10 – 17 years). Each event will last from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Rep Annex on 518 Main Street in Little Rock.

New York actor and director Ethan Paulini, who has appeared in many Rep productions, will lead the workshops. The Rep’s Musical Director Mark Binns and Choreographer/Dancer Marisa Kirby will be supporting him. The program will cover everything from branding to social media presence to getting an agent and video auditions.

This move falls in line with The Rep’s goal to get the community more involved in the theater, and comes directly after the announcement of a new Director of Education – Anna Kimmell.

Silverman adds, “These summer workshops are a tasting of what adults and young artists can expect to experience at The Rep later in the fall.”

The July workshops will be a part-informational seminar, part-instructional workshop. A limited number of participants will present material of their choosing and receive constructive feedback as to how to best create a cohesive brand based on their type and unique talents and present themselves as a competitive member of the entertainment industry.

In addition to working on material, there will be an extensive Q&A session. Cost is $35 per person. Payment is required at time of reservation. Call the Box Office at (501) 378-0405 to reserve your spot in the workshop.
