Master Bedroom

Laure Antonetti Schutze with L. Antoinett Design has worked with this central Arkansas homeowner for several years. The homeowners renovated their living room and kitchen five years ago. “And when they became empty nesters, they decided to redesign their guest bedrooms, to give them their own personalities,” she said.

Customize. “Put a bit of your personality in the room. You can do this and still stick to your budget. For example, we purchased ready-made drapes from Cynthia East Fabrics and added trim to create a custom look,” Schutze said. You can do this with window shades as well.

Get artsy. In addition to hanging artwork on the walls, such as this painting and three-paneled screen, consider adding something unexpected. In this instance, Schutze added an art glass doorknob.

This bed is just right … Give your guest options. This bed has a coverlet as well as a duvet, so guests may use more or less covering based for their level of comfort. Schutze also suggested, “Pile on the pillows, so guests can choose firm or soft pillows according to their preference. And be sure to use crisp linens to give that hotel feel.”

Bring on the color. These clients loves color. They spotted this paint color in a magazine and decided to take the plunge, Schutze said. The hatching texture was pre-existing, and initially the owners thought they’d cover it, but found it adds just the right touch: texture without wallpaper.

Think convenience. The leather bench provides seating as well as a place to set luggage for packing and unpacking, and these floating nightstands have a flip-down door with a power strip for convenient charging of smartphones and other devices. This beautiful, modern desk doubles as a vanity and a workstation. Genius.
