Adventurer Georgia Pellegrini is a contemporary Martha Stewart who works to help women tap into their modern-day pioneer spirit. Through Pellegrini’s multi-media channels, she teaches women how to grow small-space gardens, assemble the makings of a self-sufficient pantry, learn to navigate a compass for their next camping trip, or even forage for plants that give you energy. From September 21 to 24, Pellegrini will visit Little Rock to host her first Adventure Getaway in Arkansas. Sixteen women from across the United States will gather at The Capital Hotel to learn archery, teal hunting, fishing and duck calling.

Years ago, Pellegrini traded in her high heels for cowgirl boots and a shotgun, foregoing a cubicle on Wall Street for a “field-and-stream-to-table” life in Texas.  Pellegrini is the author of the critically acclaimed Food Heroes, the best-selling Girl Hunter and a new book Modern Pioneering: More Than 150 Recipes, Projects, and Skills for a Self-Sufficient Life. She is a food writer for the Wall Street Journal and has been featured on Iron Chef America, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel, The Chew, Martha Stewart, and more! She was named one of 2015’s Top 10 Most Influential Women in the Outdoors.

Pellegrini chronicles her adventures on her popular website www.georgiapellegrini.comwhich garners more than 2 million visitors per month. She also utilizes the site to show women from all walks of life and ages that they can grow food efficiently and even try foraging, camping, and living off the land. One of her slogans is that “Self-sufficiency is the ultimate girl power.” Pellegrini is also the creator of Adventure Getaways across the country, where women can take three-days trips that include a combination of outdoor activities, horseback riding, clay shooting, fly fishing, hunting for birds, chef-prepared meals, cooking classes and more.

Pellegrini has been featured in dozens of media outlets including: “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Iron Chef America,” “The Today Show,” “Real Sports” on HBO, NPR, Martha Stewart Radio, “Alicia Mendez Tonight” on Fusion, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Food & Wine, ESPN, Town & Country, More Magazine, and The New York Post, to name a few. When Pellegrini isn’t delving into local foodways at home in Austin, Texas, she’s roaming the world hunting and gathering, tasting good food and meeting the great people who make it.

AY Magazine is Pellegrini’s media partner for the Arkansas Adventure Getaway and she appeared in the April 2017 issue of AY. Stay tuned for her contributions to aymag.com.
